Vinette Thompson is a Melbourne, Australia - based abstract artist creating vibrant, layered works inspired by memory, culture, and travel.

Working from her sunny home studio, she builds her paintings through textured layers of acrylics, oil pastels, and mixed media - where colour, pattern, and form gradually reveal themselves.

Her art is deeply personal, often acting as a visual diary. Subtle influences appear throughout - African mud vases carried across continents, silver beads from an Omani souq, the bold hues of vintage kilims, or flowers from her childhood garden.

With roots in South Africa, a background in Textile and Product Design, and years spent living in the Middle East, Vinette's work reflects a lifelong fascination with textiles, global traditions, and the beauty of layered storytelling.

‘I create layered, abstract artworks that merge my

love of textiles, patterns, and textures. Working with acrylics, oil pastels, and mixed media, I build each piece through an intuitive process of layering until

the imagery emerges. My paintings and collages are visual diaries, holding traces of places, objects, and memories gathered

across my life.’
