Hello!

I’m Vinette. I am an abstract artist living in Melbourne, Australia.

I work from my sunny home studio in Hampton, with music and podcasts to keep me company. As an intuitive and process-driven artist, I combine my love of textiles, abstract patterns and textures to create colourful layered artworks.

I work predominately with professional grade acrylic polymer paint and oil pastels, but often include other mediums in my artwork. My process is all about layering. Texture, thick opaque layers, translucent washes and organic shapes all overlap until the artwork reveals itself. Only then do my brushstrokes become more intentional and considered. I thrive on the creative process and love exploring various techniques and new possibilities.

I see my artwork as visual diaries, representing little moments and precious memories. Be they the beautiful African mud vases I’ve been carting around the world, the bowl of beaten silver beads I picked up at a bustling Omani souq, the vibrant colours in a vintage kilim made by the Manda’an or flowers from my childhood garden, there are subtle notes to these and other influences in my paintings.
